The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into a fraud case involving over MVR 9 million from Public Service Media (PSM).
In a statement, the ACC revealed that the case involves funds taken by PSM for purchasing foreign currency and discrepancies in reported income. The case, filed by PSM itself, has been under investigation since July last year.
The commission stated that while the preliminary investigation has been completed, further inquiries are ongoing. The ACC also noted that the Audit Office consulted its commissioner during a special audit of PSM’s finances.
Additionally, the ACC confirmed that the police have recently reported the case to them, signaling continued cooperation between authorities.
According to the audit report, a total of MVR 9,034,083 is unaccounted for. The report highlighted that over MVR 1 million was deposited into the bank account of the son of PSM's former finance director, further raising concerns about internal financial misconduct.
