The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the recent attack on the residence of the UAE Ambassador in Khartoum, Sudan.

In an official statement released, the Maldives expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as a "heinous attack."

The statement emphasized that targeting diplomatic facilities violates the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and international laws protecting diplomatic immunity. The Maldives called for respecting and protecting diplomatic premises, stressing the importance of upholding international treaties and customs that govern diplomatic relations.

According to the United Arab Emirates early on Monday, the residence of its ambassador in Khartoum was attacked by a Sudanese military aircraft. The UAE's foreign ministry said that the attack on its ambassador's residence had caused extensive damage to the building.

The Government of Maldives extended its solidarity to the Government and people of the UAE, reaffirming its commitment to supporting them during this challenging time.
