An Israeli airstrike on the Tulkarm refugee camp in the occupied West Bank has resulted in the deaths of 18 people, marking the deadliest incident in the region since 2000. The Israeli military confirmed that the strike targeted Hamas leader Zahi Yaser Abd Al-Razeq Oufi, accusing him of involvement in multiple attacks against Israel.

Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli warplane struck a cafeteria located in a four-story building during the raid. The assault has prompted widespread condemnation and intensified fears of escalating violence amid Israel's ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which has been in response to a deadly Hamas attack on October 7 that killed 1,205 people in Israel, mostly civilians.

Israel’s military operations have ramped up as part of efforts to secure its northern border and address the displacement of over 60,000 people due to Hezbollah attacks over the past year. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reports that Israeli retaliatory strikes have resulted in at least 41,788 deaths, predominantly among civilians.

This latest strike in Tulkarm underscores the heightened tensions in the West Bank, which has already been plagued by violence. As the conflict continues to unfold, the international community is increasingly calling for restraint and renewed efforts toward peace.
