President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on all parties to actively contribute to the transformation of Maldivian society by upholding the principles of the Qur'an and Sunnah. He made this appeal during his speech at the official ceremony celebrating the Day the Maldives Embraced Islam, held earlier today at Dharubaaruge.

In his address, President Muizzu emphasized the need for Maldivians to remain committed to Islam in their intentions, speech, and actions. He reflected on the historical significance of the Maldives' conversion to Islam, explaining that the religion’s message of peace and security led the people to embrace it. He also noted that at the time of conversion, the Maldives was under attack and facing persecution from a regional power.

The President highlighted the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), reminding the people of the moral virtues Islam brings. He urged the public to follow the Sunnah, which instructs them to avoid spreading falsehoods and insults and to speak only honestly and kindly.

First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed accompanied the President to the ceremony, which several state and government officials attended. As part of the event, President Muizzu awarded medals, prizes, and certificates to Hafizs who had earned their certification for memorizing the Qur'an.

The Day the Maldives Embraced Islam is a significant national event, marking the Maldives’ historical conversion and the lasting influence of Islam on its culture and values.
