Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal has publicly denied owning any land or flat, following remarks made by President Abdulla Yameen that suggested otherwise.
Faisal responded to Yameen's statements, which implied that the minister had purchased land in the city, stating that the accusations were false and personal.
The controversy arose after President Yameen said, “Now Abdul Raheem’s (son) Faisal has also bought land in the city," during a recent rally held by the People's National Front (PNF). In a direct rebuttal, Faisal firmly denied the allegations, stating, “I don’t have my land or flat anywhere. Not even on my island or in the city. When I visit my island, I stay at my father’s house.”
Faisal further criticized President Yameen, advising him to refrain from spreading misinformation. He expressed that Yameen is being very personal and should stop spreading hatred through lies.
The exchange of words follows a series of escalating verbal attacks between the two political figures. Faisal had previously claimed that President Yameen has become isolated from the political arena, describing him as arrogant and selfish.
