The country’s situation can only be transformed if a single government remains in power for 10 to 15 years, according to Abdul Raheem Abdullah, Chairman of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) and Parliamentary Speaker.
Speaking to the media after launching the PNC membership drive in the Hulhumale' constituencies, Abdul Raheem stressed the importance of political stability under one government to bring about significant change. He emphasized that a prolonged administration is essential for transitioning the country from its current state to a better one.
Abdul Raheem underscored President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to building a unified nation. He noted the increasing public support for the PNC as a sign of the people’s acceptance of the President’s policies. He added that the entire PNC is working together to ensure President Muizzu secures a second term, aiming for continued success beyond the current five-year term.
He also revealed that President Muizzu aims to increase PNC’s membership to 75,000 by November, making it the largest political party in the Maldives. With more than 60,000 members already, Abdul Raheem expressed confidence that the target will be achieved, to solidify the PNC's position by November 17.
