The confidence of the people in the government's policies has been lost, stated Meekail Ahmed Naseem, MDP MP for South Galolhu.
During the debate in Parliament on the tax increase bills proposed by the government, Meekail expressed concern about the government's decision to raise the TGST, criticizing the lack of seriousness in addressing the matter.
He pointed out that the government is quickly changing its policies and lacks a clear plan. Referring to the proposed tax increases in the tourism sector, Meekail noted that the bills introduced today might be altered if tourism businessmen approach the President with concerns.
Meekail also highlighted that this inconsistency is not limited to the government’s economic policies but is also evident in its foreign policies, which are frequently shifting.
The government recently proposed increases to the TGST, green tax, departure tax, and airport development fee.
