The People’s National Congress (PNC) owes much of its success to President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu’s close relationship with the party, according to PNC Chairman and Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey). Speaking at a ceremony for new PNC members, Abdul Raheem credited the President’s direct involvement and support as the driving force behind the party’s rapid growth.

Abdul Raheem highlighted that President Muizzu maintains close contact with the PNC leadership and consults the party and parliamentary group before making significant national decisions. He emphasized that the President’s understanding of the relationship between the government and political party is key to the PNC’s achievements.

"I believe the real reason for the successes the PNC is achieving today is the strong policy of President Dr. Muizzu, who understands the political party system and values the relationship between the party and government. This connection is the foundation of the PNC’s victories and its growth as the largest party in the country,” Abdul Raheem stated.

Abdul Raheem added that unlike previous leaders who distanced themselves from their party after gaining power, President Muizzu remains actively engaged with all PNC members. He assured members that the President would not favor any select group and instead would ensure inclusive leadership within the party.

Reflecting on past political trends, Abdul Raheem pointed out that, historically, leaders often sidelined their parties after coming to power, treating the system as a personal platform for themselves and their close associates. President Muizzu, however, has chosen a model seen in other countries, where the ruling party plays an active role in government, he said. This commitment to a true party system, Abdul Raheem noted, ensures stability and effective governance.
