The Parliament of the Maldives has officially passed the Supplementary Budget proposed by the government, amounting to MVR 5.1 billion. Finance Minister Moosa Zameer presented the supplementary budget during a parliamentary session, highlighting its significance for the nation’s financial planning.
In a decisive vote, 75 members of the House of Representatives supported the budget, while 11 members opposed it. The parliamentary committee had previously reviewed and endorsed the budget, paving the way for its approval.
The supplementary budget outlines an estimated additional MVR 640 million in total revenue and grants. This includes a projected increase of 61 million in tax revenue, 379 million in other revenue, and 199 million in grants.
With the approval of this supplementary budget, the total budget for the fiscal year will now rise to MVR 55 billion. The government aims to utilize these funds to address various priorities and expenditures, ensuring effective management of resources as it continues to meet the needs of the Maldivian people.
