The number of students in upper secondary education has increased by 38 percent this year, according to Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, Minister of Education. He shared this update during the official reopening of the CHSE last night.
Dr. Shafeeu noted that the number of students in government-run upper secondary schools has grown significantly, from around 1,100 students previously to nearly 2,000 this year. "Looking at public schools across the city and the atolls, this growth is about 77 percent. For city schools alone, in Male' it’s a 109 percent increase," he added.
He emphasized that including the Hulhumale’ area as part of Male' city’s education network contributed to this rise, with the total number of students in public schools in Hulhumale’ and Male’ increasing by 109 percent last year.
The increase reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to upper secondary education.
