When our health professionals desperately needed assistance and expertise, India was there. When we needed to stock up on essential food items and medicine, India was there. It is unquestionable that India is our number one first-responder, in times of critical need, especially during this global pandemic," said Shahid.

Minister Shahid continued his speech describing India’s gift today as a symbol of the traditionally close and unique bilateral relations between the Maldives and India, highlighting that the bilateral relations between the Maldives and India have grown stronger and deeper since the inception of President Solih’s Government.

“With the timely actions taken by the Maldivian government, under the leadership of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the capable guidance of the health services, and the selfless service of individuals of the society, we learned and lived the new normal. Today we rise, to fight the pandemic on a more equal footing” said Minister Shahid.
