President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Abdul Haseeb Ismail as a member of the Elections Commission. The appointment, made under the Constitution and the Elections Commission Act, was formalized during a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The President presented Abdul Haseeb Ismail, a resident of Hulhumalé Hiyaa, with his letter of appointment following the administration of the oath of office. The oath was taken in front of the President and administered by Honourable Dr Azmiralda Zahir, Justice of the Supreme Court of the Maldives.
The appointment aligns with Article 167(a) and Article 168(b) of the Constitution, which outline the establishment and functioning of the Elections Commission, as well as Article 4(a) of Law No. 8/2008 (Elections Commission Act).
Abdul Haseeb Ismail’s inclusion in the Elections Commission comes as part of the government’s commitment to upholding the integrity and transparency of electoral processes in the Maldives.
