President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the former Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid has said that people should not be discouraged and must work to find a peaceful tomorrow.

In a video message released in connection with the new year, MDP President Abdullah Shahid said that the past year was one that presented many challenges to the people. In this regard, Shahid said that the entire social security system has collapsed. He said that due to obstacles to economic activities and difficulties in ensuring fundamental rights, people have been forced to live in poverty and anxiety.

Furthermore, Shahid said that with the new year, people should not remain shackled in despair. Shahid said that we must face the new year with new courage to find a peaceful tomorrow for the people.
