Abdul Latheef Mohamed, Member of Parliament for Dhihdhoo constituency, has raised concerns over the sincerity of some Cabinet ministers in fulfilling their responsibilities and supporting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration.
Speaking during an extraordinary parliamentary session to debate the approval of changes made to the Cabinet, Latheef highlighted that ministers are appointed with the noble purpose of serving the public and upholding the President's policies. He stated that the approval of ministers who fail to work in good faith for the President should be reconsidered, stressing that ministers must demonstrate genuine commitment to their duties.
Latheef expressed his dismay over the lack of engagement from some ministers, pointing out that certain members of the Cabinet fail to respond to calls from MPs. This, he argued, prevents members from addressing issues raised by their constituents effectively.
He also criticized the mindset of some ministers who rely on their closeness to the President to retain their positions, calling it a mistake to think they can remain in office without demonstrating sincerity and accountability.
Raising concerns over the failure of some ministers to ensure their dedication to the President, Latheef underscored the importance of transparency and responsiveness in serving the public and implementing the government’s policies.
