In a significant milestone for regional service expansion, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated passport issuance services in Raa Atoll during a special ceremony held in Un’goofaaru Island.

The initiative fulfills a key promise made by the President to bring essential government services closer to the people.

Under this new arrangement, residents of Raa Atoll can now submit passport applications through the “Imuga” platform and collect their passports locally in Un’goofaaru, eliminating the need to travel to Malé for this service.

Speaking at the launch event, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the importance of decentralizing services to ensure greater convenience for citizens living in the atolls. He emphasized that the move is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility and improve public service delivery nationwide.

This development marks an important step forward in the administration’s commitment to making government services more accessible to all citizens, particularly those in remote areas. By expanding passport services to the provinces, the government aims to reduce travel burdens and associated costs for residents in Raa Atoll and beyond.
