The National Drug Agency (NDA) has revealed that approximately 100 individuals are still awaiting admission for rehabilitation treatment.

According to NDA Chairperson Lubna Zahir, when the current administration assumed office, over 700 people had been sentenced to treatment by the courts. Since then, significant progress has been made in clearing the backlog, with only about 100 individuals remaining without immediate access to rehabilitation services.

She explained that the courts continue to sentence numerous individuals for treatment daily, but the existing treatment system and available centers are insufficient to accommodate the growing number of patients. Despite these challenges, the agency is making extensive efforts to speed up the admission process.

To address the situation, the NDA board has established a special task force to streamline the admission process and ensure timely access to rehabilitation for those in need. The agency remains committed to tackling the country's drug-related challenges by expanding treatment facilities and improving its rehabilitation system.
