Parliament has passed a bill to remove two of the seven Supreme Court judges through a show of hands.
The bill, introduced in Parliament yesterday, was referred to the Judiciary Committee and approved before being put to a vote today. Members were asked to vote separately on the motion.
A total of 68 out of 77 members voted in favor of the bill, while nine members opposed it.
Huraa constituency PNC MP Anara Naeem, who did not vote against the bill in the Judiciary Committee, also voted in favor during the parliamentary vote.
The decision comes while the Supreme Court is reviewing a case challenging a constitutional amendment that would prevent MPs from losing their seats if they leave their party or resign.
