State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced that households will receive a minimum 10% discount on electricity bills during the month of Ramadan.
At a press conference today, Stelco stated that many customers had raised concerns over high electricity bills during Ramadan last year. In response, the company will take meter readings on the first and last days of Ramadan to generate a separate bill specifically for the holy month.
The discount will be calculated based on electricity consumption over the past year, with a guaranteed minimum reduction of 10%.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu previously announced that Stelco would continue to provide discounts on electricity and water bills during Ramadan.
Last year, Stelco, Fenaka Corporation, and the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) collectively provided MVR 142 million in discounts on water and electricity bills during Ramadan.
