The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has officially declared Saturday, March 1, 2025, as the first day of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH.

The announcement was made at a ceremony held at the Islamic Center on February 28, 2025. Followed by in a statement issued by the Ministry, Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed confirmed that after sunset on Friday, February 28, 2025, the moon of Ramadan 1446 was sighted in accordance with Shari'ah rules. As a result, Saturday, March 1, 2025, has been officially designated as the beginning of the holy month of fasting.

The statement encouraged all Muslims to observe the religious obligations of fasting and to engage in acts of kindness and worship during the month of Ramadan. The Ministry reminded everyone to seek the pleasure and forgiveness of Allah during this sacred time.

Ramadan is a time for reflection, devotion, and charity, and Muslims around the world will begin fasting from dawn until sunset tomorrow.
