PNC MP Ahmed Azaan, representing the Hithadhoo Central constituency, has been removed from key parliamentary committees following recent committee reshuffles announced by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdullah.
Azaan was removed from the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee and replaced by Henveiru North MP Ahmed Aifan. Additionally, he was removed from the Committee on National Security Services (241), with Vilimale MP Mohamed Ismail appointed in his place.
Following his removal, Azaan has been reassigned to the Petitions Committee and the Privileges and Ethics Committee.
The relationship between Azaan and the government appears to have strained since his exclusion from influential committees. Notably, he did not vote in favor of the bill to reduce the number of Supreme Court judges. He has also been reportedly removed from the PNC’s internal WhatsApp group.
