First Lady Madam Sajida Mohamed has pledged to take legal action against those who attempt to defame and insult her children, stating that she will act as a mother to protect their dignity.
In a press statement released today, Sajida addressed the recent attacks against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s family, particularly his children. The statement condemned what it described as politically motivated false allegations, which she said could lead to serious consequences affecting the well-being of the President’s son.
The statement emphasized that every child is protected under the Constitution and highlighted that misinformation was being spread about the President’s 16-year-old son, who is still in school. It also noted that the President’s eldest son and his 8-year-old son had been targeted with insults.
Sajida asserted that neither she nor her family has influenced any of the President’s political decisions. However, she confirmed that legal action would be pursued against those defaming her family.
The legal statement was delivered by lawyer Aishath Azima Shakoor, who outlined the action to take. Azima clarified that while the President’s family has chosen not to pursue criminal cases, they will be seeking civil remedies against those involved.
