President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that all classrooms in the country will be air-conditioned by the end of this year. This initiative aims to improve the learning environment in government schools across the Maldives.

Speaking during the President's Office's Rayyithunnaa Eku podcast series, the President explained that there are 3,604 classrooms in 217 government schools. During his visits to various villages as part of his presidential election campaign, many citizens raised concerns about the heat in classrooms, prompting the government to prioritize this issue.

The President revealed that schools had formally requested air conditioning for classrooms, and this request has now been included in the government's policy. He confirmed that the necessary funds for the project have already been secured, and the next step is to proceed with the purchase of the air conditioners.

To date, 800 air conditioners have already been installed in various classrooms across the country. The President added that the government will need to purchase an additional 9,000 air conditioners to complete the project.

In addition to the classrooms, the President emphasized that school halls will also be air-conditioned. However, he clarified that while classrooms will be fully air-conditioned this year, it is unlikely that the halls will be completed in the same timeframe.

This initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education and create a more comfortable and conducive environment for students to learn.
