A test flight is scheduled to land at Muli Airport on April 25, according to Managing Director of Regional Airports, Ahmed Mubeen.

Speaking to local media, Mubeen said that the majority of the work at the airport has been completed and preparations are now underway for the upcoming test flight.

As part of the final inspections, teams from the Directorate of Aviation Security Administration (DASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority under the Ministry of Defense are set to visit Muli this week to assess the airport's security standards.

Mubeen also noted that the contractor has confirmed the airport’s fire truck will arrive in the Maldives either by the end of this week or early next week.

Muli Airport, located in Meemu Atoll, features a 1,200-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runway. Although the airport's development began several years ago, progress gained momentum in recent months.

The project was undertaken by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with over MVR 221 million invested into the development of the facility. Once operational, the airport is expected to significantly improve connectivity and boost economic opportunities in the region.
