Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim, widely known as Kudu, has submitted a motion to Parliament highlighting the neglect of people with disabilities by state institutions.

The motion accuses agencies such as the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) of failing to provide essential services and support to children with disabilities, as required by law.

According to the motion, many families are forced to cover therapy costs for their children due to delays or the absence of state-funded assistance. It further points out that therapy centers face long queues and high service costs, while the shortage of trained therapists deprives children of timely and necessary care.

Kudu also raised concerns over the unavailability of essential medicines and medical equipment for children with conditions such as autism and ADHD in pharmacies across the country. These challenges, he noted, have been repeatedly voiced by affected families, who continue to face worsening living conditions in the absence of effective intervention.

The motion highlights that families of people with disabilities are experiencing severe emotional, physical, and financial strain due to the lack of adequate services and support.

The purpose of bringing the motion to Parliament, according to Kudu, is to identify existing challenges and work with the government to resolve them through legislative and policy efforts. He urged state authorities and the wider community to take all necessary steps to ensure that individuals requiring special care receive appropriate services and assistance.
