The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that it has received a total of 8,602 complaints regarding the revised list of recipients for the 4,000 flats under the former administration’s ‘Gedhoruveriya’ scheme.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry confirmed that the complaints were collected as of noon on Tuesday. According to the figures, 4,652 individuals submitted complaints through the designated online landlord portal. The portal recorded a total of 5,236 individual complaint entries.
The Ministry also revealed that 2,555 of the complaints came from people whose names were already included in the list of beneficiaries for the 4,000 flats. In addition, 2,840 complaints were submitted via email, and 526 were received as written letters.
The Ministry stated that it will also take into account third-party submissions — complaints lodged by individuals regarding others who were included in the revised flat list. It assured the public that all complaints are currently under review and the necessary verifications are being carried out.
