Auditor general questions on the expenses on assets worth 169 million MVR mentioned in the Parliament audit report of 2017.

Parliament’s audit report of 2017, signed by the Auditor General, showed that during previous years the assets inventory of the parliament was looked after manually and it was advised to the parliament administration to properly maintain the inventory,
considering the issues raised during audit compilation. Hence the Auditor General has requested the parliament for a new compilation of inventory of all the assets to be presented by 16th March 2019, but AG reports that this has not been shared yet.

And in regards to this, the Auditor General said that the expenses on assets worth 169 million MVR mentioned in the Parliament audit report of 2017, cannot be confirmed and is questionable. The Auditor General also said that inventory of assets is not properly maintained by the administration of the parliament and it is unclear on the expenses spent on some of the assets as well.

The Auditor General once again has requested the parliament to send the Ministry of Finance, clearly detailing the inventory of all the assets of the parliament.
