The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage currently employs 50 political staff, with their combined monthly salaries and allowances amounting to MVR 1.3 million.

The Ministry oversees four key agencies: the National Center for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, the Academy of Dhivehi Language, the National Museum, and the National Center for Dhivehi Heritage Studies.

Among the political appointees are one minister earning MVR 58,500, four state ministers each earning MVR 43,500, and 10 deputy ministers with salaries of MVR 31,500. The list also includes 21 senior political directors, 12 political directors, one assistant political director, and a personal assistant to the minister.

While 50 political staff remain in the Ministry, the President’s Office revealed that 228 political employees have been dismissed from various government offices as of October 31, 2024, as part of ongoing cost-cutting efforts.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously stressed the need to limit the number of political appointments in government institutions.
