Maldives Police, in coordination with Malaysian authorities, are working to obtain a statement from Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who was found critically injured after reportedly falling from the ninth floor of a building in Henveiru on April 18. She landed on the roof of a nearby warehouse and was initially treated in Malé before being transferred to Malaysia for further care.

Police said they made initial attempts to take Yumnu’s statement in Malé, but her family has not been cooperating. With support from Malaysian authorities, efforts are now underway to obtain her statement in accordance with the laws and procedures of Malaysia.

Authorities also noted that Yumnu was moved from the hospital where she was being treated without informing the police, complicating the investigation.

The case is being jointly investigated by Maldives Police and the Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances.

Following her regaining consciousness, Yumnu’s family asserted that she did not jump of her own accord and claimed that four individuals were with her at the time of the incident. Those named include Raud Ahmed Zilal and Yoosuf Yassar Abdul Ghafoor.

The investigation remains ongoing.
