Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has confirmed that an investigation is underway into the cause of a prolonged power outage affecting parts of Malé City and Hulhumale'.
In a post shared on X, Minister Thoriq stated that efforts are ongoing to restore electricity services in the affected areas, and steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
As a result of the blackout, schools across the capital suspended afternoon classes. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has also ordered a serious investigation into the incident and instructed the relevant authorities to take necessary action.
