The Maldives has begun sharing information on convicted child sex offenders with Interpol member countries, according to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
The ministry confirmed that the national register of child sexual abusers has now been made public, and the Maldives Police Service has issued Interpol Green Notices for individuals who have completed their sentences but are deemed a continued threat to public safety.
Green Notices are issued by Interpol to alert member countries about individuals with a criminal past who may pose a risk, particularly in cases involving child abuse.
So far, 43 individuals—25 Maldivians and 18 foreigners—have been issued Green Notices.
The ministry stated that sharing this information internationally enables other countries to monitor these individuals, adopt necessary safety precautions, and consider their background when evaluating them for employment or residency.
