Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the Maldives on Friday, July 25, for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. This marks Modi’s first official visit to the Maldives since beginning his third term in office.
According to the President’s Office, the visit will include high-level discussions between President Muizzu and Prime Minister Modi on a range of bilateral and regional matters. Several Indian-assisted development projects are scheduled to be inaugurated, alongside the signing of new Memoranda of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in key sectors.
The visit holds special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of Maldivian independence and six decades of diplomatic ties between the Maldives and India.
