South Hulhumalé MP Dr. Ahmed Shamheed has claimed that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu no longer trusts his team, pointing to the President’s recent pattern of personally making and announcing key decisions.
Speaking on RaajjeTV, Shamheed said the President is bypassing his Cabinet and taking direct control of important matters, including financial decisions. He noted that recent announcements—such as the provision of additional dollars for overseas medical patients and loans for all eligible students—were made solely by the President on his social media platforms.
Shamheed suggested that this shift in approach indicates a lack of confidence in the President’s team or possibly reflects the team’s failure to deliver. He also highlighted inconsistencies in public statements made by team members, particularly pointing to what he described as the failed vision of the Economic Minister.
