The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service has officially been launched in Baa Atoll, connecting 13 islands under the government’s Integrated National Public Ferry Network.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, free ferry services will operate from today until 3 August to allow residents to familiarize themselves with the system. Paid services will begin on 4 August, with tickets available for booking via the RTL website and mobile app.

Baa Atoll falls under Zone Two of the RTL network, which also includes Noonu, Raa, and Shaviyani atolls. With today’s launch, RTL services are now active in all four atolls in Zone Two. The government has announced that full inter-island connectivity within the zone will be achieved soon.

The RTL ferry network, divided into six zones, is a key component of the government’s effort to enhance affordable, reliable, and accessible transportation across the Maldives. A total of 11 atolls have seen RTL services launched to date.

Senior Government Spokesperson Heena Waleed highlighted on social media that the launch delivers on a commitment made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
