Inner Maldives CEO Mohamed Firaq has warned that the country cannot develop if job opportunities are handed to unqualified individuals while educated youth remain marginalized.
In a post on X today, Firaq highlighted that thousands of graduates enter the job market every year, and over 20,000 youths are expected to seek employment in the next three years. He said political influence often leads to jobs being given to people without the necessary skills, leaving qualified candidates sidelined.
“Many educated youth are sidelined, while a handful of people without proper qualifications are given opportunities. A nation cannot be built this way,” Firaq wrote.
He questioned whether the voices of the country’s youth could be silenced or ignored when their future is at stake, stressing the urgent need to prioritize merit and competence in employment.
