Lawyer Ali Hussain has criticized President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for being confused about the order of priorities, warning that people may take to the streets if his housing promises are not fulfilled.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Fahi Union, Ali called on the government to suspend the ongoing dredging works at Fushidhiggaru Falhu, arguing that the project is not included in the state budget and is therefore unconstitutional. He further claimed that some vessels involved in the project had departed without receiving payment.

Ali noted that President Muizzu pledged in February 2025 to dredge land in the UTF area and provide housing. He argued that the sand already deposited at Fushidhiggaru could have been diverted to meet that commitment and said the delay showed a lack of proper prioritization.

He urged the government to complete the dredging of Hulhumalé Phase 3, Gulhifalhu, Giravaru Falhu, and Uthuru Thilafalhu (UTF) this year and to begin the housing project without further delay.

Ali stressed that failure to deliver on housing would not be tolerated by the public and warned that people will not simply watch the delays but will take to the streets to demand their rights.
