Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujau has said journalists are the most comfortable people since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government took office, despite growing protests over the Media Bill.
In a post on X, Shujau said the government has created a special area in the green zone for journalists. He highlighted that this space can be used to freely write, express views, and conduct live interviews with ministers and officials.
Shujau compared the current situation with past administrations, saying that under previous governments, local journalists who voiced opinions in the green zone were met with pepper spray and pushed back by security forces.
He added that the current government will not impoverish journalists and will ensure an environment where they can openly report the truth.
