MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu) has raised alarm over government agencies failing to respond to letters sent by Members of Parliament, describing the issue as a violation of the Privileges and Powers of Parliament Act.

In a post shared on social media, Kudu stated that the refusal or neglect to respond to correspondence from MPs undermines parliamentary authority and marks “the beginning of a culture of lawlessness.”

His comments follow repeated complaints from opposition MPs that ministers and state institutions are not responding to inquiries meant to ensure government accountability. The matter was previously brought to the attention of the President in August.

Under Article 98 of the Constitution, Cabinet ministers and government office holders are required to appear before Parliament and provide truthful answers in the manner determined by the legislative body. The law further obliges government agencies to respond truthfully to questions submitted by MPs in connection with their official responsibilities.
