Statistics on airport VIP lounge usage by Members of Parliament show that MP Ahmed Nazim, MP Ibrahim Didi and MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed were the top users of the service between May 28 and July 31, 2024.
According to figures shared on social media, Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim topped the list with 133 VIP lounge visits, costing the state USD 116,000. South Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi followed with 97 visits at a cost of USD 84,600, while Dh. Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed used the service 78 times, amounting to USD 68,088.
Other frequent users included North Maafannu MP Mohamed Nazim with 66 visits costing USD 57,613, and Hithadhoo North MP Mohamed Sinan with 64 visits costing USD 55,867.
In total, 76 MPs used the airport’s VIP services during the period, with state expenditure reaching USD 1.4 million. The service, provided under parliamentary privileges, is extended to MPs and their accompanying family members.
