First Lady Sajidhaa Mohamed attended the official ceremony marking World Patient Safety Day 2025, where she launched key initiatives to strengthen healthcare quality and safety in the Maldives.
Welcomed by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, the First Lady inaugurated the licensing software for the Health Establishment Management System (HEMS), designed to streamline inspections of registered health providers and professionals. She also introduced the JCI Patient Safety Champions Training Programme, aimed at advancing safer, more compassionate care for patients.
The event featured a panel discussion on the theme “Safe care for every newborn and every child”, under the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Maldives.
World Patient Safety Day has been observed annually on 17 September since 2019.
