Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the people will not allow the current government to destroy the country through deceit and corruption.
His remarks came in response to a post by Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujau on X, where Shujau claimed that protecting major projects was President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s biggest investment.
Responding to the statement, Jameel criticized the government for engaging in large-scale projects with questionable or unknown foreign partners, citing examples such as the undersea tunnel, the investment bank, and the proposed Meedhoo–Hithadhoo Bridge in Addu City. He asked whether anyone had come to stop them, or whether these ventures were moving forward without transparency or accountability, which he said reflects the government’s incompetence.
Jameel accused Shujau of defending the government’s failures while benefiting from event management businesses that profit from state resources. He said the people would not tolerate such exploitation and would stand up to stop the destruction of the country.
