The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a curfew on the greater Male’ area.
As per the statement released by HPA, Male’, Hulhumale’, and Vilingili will be under curfew from this Thursday, May 06th onwards, restricting any movements out on the streets from 09 pm till morning 04 am. Curfew was imposed following a surge in daily cases reported, and as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Prior to the curfew, more restrictions were imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19 on Wednesday, May 05. This includes the closure of government offices, schools, and a ban on vehicles. In addition, sports activities and competitions are also banned (except with special permission), while parks and sports arenas are closed.
So far, Maldives has recorded 32,665 positive cases with a daily record of 734 positive cases yesterday.
