May 12, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 1572 additional cases of Covid-19 along with 844 cases reported within the last 24 hours and the rest from backlogged pending samples taken earlier this month.

The total positive cases recorded include 1,315 people infected in the greater Male’ area and 257 people infected outside the greater Male’ area. Out of this, 15 people are positive from operational resorts, and 242 people are positive from inhabited islands.

With additional cases of the Covid-19, confirmed cases in the Maldives have increased up to 40,092 cases, including 12,873 active cases to Covid-19.

So far, HPA has taken 5,336 test samples within the last 24 hours.

HPA also reported that 328 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the total recoveries to 27,123.

According to HPA, there are 263 patients admitted to hospitals, and the Maldives has recorded 87 deaths from Covid-19 complications.

In addition to this, a total of 302,097 people across the Maldives have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from the nationwide inoculation drive. Out of which, 138,890 people have received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
