May 17, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 1433 additional cases of Covid-19 along with 594 cases reported within the last 24 hours and the rest from backlogged pending samples taken earlier this month.

The total positive cases recorded include 1,294 people infected in the greater Male’ area and 139 people infected outside the greater Male’ area. Out of this, 05 people are positive from operational resorts, and 134 people are positive from inhabited islands.

With additional cases of the Covid-19, confirmed cases in the Maldives have increased up to 45,956 cases, including 16,997 active cases to Covid-19.

So far, HPA has taken 4,480 test samples within the last 24 hours.

HPA also reported that 390 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the total recoveries to 28,849.

According to HPA, there are 268 patients admitted to hospitals, and the Maldives has recorded 101 deaths from Covid-19 complications.

In addition to this, a total of 303,336 people across the Maldives have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from the nationwide inoculation drive. Out of which, 145,372 people have received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
