The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that the majority of those eligible for the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine second dose is still pending.
According to HPA, out of the people who received the first dose of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, about 70% of people eligible for the second dose in the Greater Malé area have not yet completed their vaccination. Currently, more than 77,662 people have received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.
HPA has urged everyone to get the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine second dose if it's been 3 weeks since the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine.
The nationwide Covid vaccine rollout program kicked off on February 01, with the Covishield vaccine donated by the Indian government. In addition to the Covishield vaccine, Maldives have approved vaccines developed by Pfizer BioNTech and Sinopharm, for emergency use.
As per the recent statistics, a total of 303,919 people across the Maldives have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from the nationwide inoculation drive. Out of which, 147,682 people have received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
