Maldives Police service destroys over 300 Kilos of drugs collected through different operations conducted till June 2020.

The drugs were destroyed at Dhoonidhoo in the morning with the presence of Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla, Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abdul Mannan Yoosuf, along with senior Police officers, Media personnel's and some people from the general public as observers.

Speaking at the ceremony held in Dhoonidhoo, Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla, assured that the government was working hard to save Maldives from drugs. He further added that a huge amount of drugs has already been seized through the special operations against narcotics. Minister Imran also said that the drugs seized will be destroyed as soon as the investigation is completed and the case is closed.

Drugs destroyed included 108.81 kg of heroin, 158.8 kg of cannabis, 39.04 kg of methamphetamine, 14.9 kg of cocaine, 1.7 kg of MDM, adding up to a total of 324.05 kg of drugs.

Drugs were destroyed through the guidelines set by the Committee formed by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
