Commissioner of Prison, Ahmed Mohamed, announced the recovery of the positive cases reported from Hulhumale’ Prison.
Hulhumale’ prison was under monitoring status and one positive case was reported. Recovery of the positive cases were announced on 10th October and once the positive cases were recovered, monitoring status was removed from Hulhumale’ Prison.
As per the correctional services, it is suspected that the covid virus was spread through in prison from the newly foreign detainees brought to Hulhumale’ prison. The initial positive cases were also reported from the 5 foreign detainees and the inmate serving his sentence in the Hulhumale’ Prison.
After the initial positive cases, test samples were taken from staff, detainees and inmates, and over 20 people tested positive from samples taken.
