The Islamic Ministry has filed a complaint against a man who expressed a slogan of another religion.

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Zahir, has condemned the use of slogans from another religion during an event held in Addu City, which is against Islam and the laws and regulations of the country, and referred the matter to the police for investigation.

The Islamic Ministry said that the Maldives is a 100 percent Islamic country and it is strictly prohibited to use the slogan of another religion in the Maldives.

The Ministry said that the Government and the people of the Maldives are obliged to protect the religious unity of the people of the Maldives as it is essential to safeguard the independence and sovereignty of the country and maintain the security and peaceful interests of the Maldives.

According to article 9 of the Protection of Religious Unity of the Maldivian Citizens Rule, the act prohibits non-Muslims residing in the country, and non-Muslims visiting the country from openly expressing other religious slogans and conducting such religious activities in public places.

Therefore, the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali condemned the incident and asked the police to investigate the matter.

The Islamic Minister urged the relevant authorities to familiarize the foreign parties with the laws and regulations of the country as they are involved in various projects in the country.
