Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has stated that the government’s target of 1.6 million tourists this year will be met tomorrow.

MMPRC stated today that the 1.6 millionth tourist is expected to arrive tomorrow.

MMPRC said that the tourist is expected to arrive in Maldives tomorrow afternoon or late afternoon. And that MMPRC and various people who work in the tourism industry are making preparations to welcome the tourist. The Managing Director of MMPRC, Thoyyib Mohamed said that arrangements are being made to welcome the tourist with various activities including Maldivian traditional drum music.

According to statistics, 1,590,379 tourists visited Maldives this year as of yesterday.

While Maldives has received 1.5 million tourists so far this year, with 14.1 percent, India is the biggest contributor. The second greatest contributor is Russia.

According to the statistical reports of the Ministry of Tourism, an average of 5685 tourists arrive in Maldives every day.
