An ocean sunfish, a species of fish that are rarely seen in the country, has been caught in the Maldives.

The fish is about 6 feet long and 4 feet wide. It was caught by fishermen from B. Fulhadhoo.

According to sources, the fish, which is not among the protected fish in the Maldives, was caught by people fishing for swordfish in the sea area west of Fulhadhoo.

The fish was brought to the island by the fishermen as it was seen to be damaged beyond rescue when it was brought up.

The fish, which has not yet been given a local name, is also known as mola, with three species: Mola mola, Mola tecta, and Mola alexandrini.
