The Transport Ministry has stated that the SIMS portal, which was launched last month, has so far issued 1,374 licenses.

The newly launched SIMS portal, which was introduced by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation to facilitate the safe and convenient issuance of motor vehicle driving licenses, is designed to allow anyone to easily access services using their eFaas account.

Both Maldivian citizens and foreigners working in Maldives can use the SIMS portal to access services from anywhere in the world.

The Ministry of Transport has noted that 1,374 licenses have been issued since the launch of the SIMS portal on February 5 this year. As of 18 March 2023, all applicants for the practical examination (driving) and the rules examination (theory) have been served and, in the licensing process, 54 licenses are being served.

The use of eFaas has eliminated the need to submit the previously required ID card information with the application. The SIMS portal has been designed so that everyone can easily request the service from their own eFaas and check the progress of the application live.
